Welcome to the Massachusetts Future Problem Solving Program (MassFPS). MassFPS is an affiliate of the Future Problem Solving Program International organization. MassFPS utilizes the Future Problem Solving Process (FPS) which was developed in 1974 by creativity pioneer Dr. E. Paul Torrance. FPS is a six step problem solving model that teaches students critical and creative thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills.
During the year, MassFPS offers four competitive components, Global Issues Problem Solving, Community Problem Solving, Scenario Writing, and Scenario Performance. Three divisions are offered for students: Junior (grades 4-6), Middle (grades 7-9), and Senior (grades 10-12).
