Chilling tales of ghosts, fox spirits, and the unquiet dead — strange stories from a thousand years of Chinese mythology and dark legend.

Every day, a forgotten classic retold in English and drawn from Liaozhai Zhiyi (聊斋志异), Soushen Ji (搜神记), Zibuyu (子不语), Taiping Guangji (太平广记) and more — narrated in a calm British voice, with cultural notes you won't find anywhere else.

These aren't just ghost stories. A scholar who trades his soul for a portrait. A fox spirit more human than the men who hunt her. An executioner who hears the dead pleading their case. Curated from the strangest corners of classical Chinese literature — stories that have haunted readers for 400 years, told the way they were meant to be heard.

New eerie tale daily. Light a candle, turn down the lights, and stay a while.
